In January 2019, Influx Press invites writers to submit novels, short story collections and non-fiction proposals to our editors, Gary, Kit and Sanya. We welcome work from both agented and unagented writers.

We are looking for original, exciting literary work that pushes linguistic and thematic boundaries. We want experimental, playful work. We encourage political writing and/or work set in a specific geographic location. We love writing from and about subjects that remain under-explored in mainstream literature.

This submission window to all, but we urge writers of colour to send us their work and we would also like to encourage women authors to submit.

Before sending us your work please check our list to see what sort of work we publish. We are open to surprises, but it is helpful for us to know that you have considered our publishing tastes before sending something in.

For novels, we want manuscripts ranging from 30,000 to 100,000 words. Please send a synopsis and the first 50 pages.

For short story collections, 20,000 to 70,000 words. Please send an outline of the stories in the book and four completed stories.

For non-fiction proposals, please send a treatment, sample chapters and evidence of previous writing.

We will not be able to get back to you immediately, as we are a small team, so please be patient.

Anything sent to us before January 2019 will not be placed on the submissions pile. This announcement is designed to give writers and agents fair notice that we will be accepting in January.

We will announce an email account to submit to in due course.

We look forward to reading your work!
